    « EatSmart Digital Scale works great »
    I am extremely pleased with this scale. It is accurate and I love the large lit up dislay which you can read easily. I also like the fact that it is clear glass. Looks very smart and I highly recommend it.

    « Accurate but doesn't want to wake up »
    The scale seems very sturdy and accurate. However, the instructions to "tap" the scale to wake it up are incorrect. You need to keep a rubber mallet by the scale to give it a good whack. Other than that, I think the scale is a good value.

    « Difficult To Turn On »
    After reading various 5-star reviews I expected this unit to operate without any problems. Unfortunately, I should have read the 1-star reviews as well. At first, I couldn't find the batteries, but later I see they are attached to the packaging material, which is fine. On the plus side, when you get this device to operate, it does give consistent results. It even indicated the changes in weight as I drank a soda pop and got on the scale. I also like the nice backlit blue display with easy to read numbers. Very nice on both counts. On the negative side, this sucker is hard to turn on! It says to "TAP" on the glass to turn the unit on, well, tapping doesn't work. Hitting the glass with the bottom of my heel doesn't work either, nor standing on it!! For me to turn this on, I must lift it off the ground and drop it. That usually does the trick and it turns on, but I'm concerned that repeatedly doing this will damage the scale. I have an old scale (by another manufacturer) that required the operator to tap the corner, at it worked flawlesly right out of the box, this scale should work flawlesly too. I suspect EatSmart has some quality control issues to work out. As it stands now, if I don't hear from the company based on this review, I will be sending this scale back to Amazon. If EatSmart decides to make amends with my scale, I'll update my review, but this should not have happened. We're talking about basic functionality, I'm not asking for the moon here.

    « Sturdy, but difficult to turn on »
    This scale is high quality, sturdy, and aesthetically pleasing. The number display is big and bright, making it very easy to read. As far as I know, it seems pretty accurate as well. My only issue is that it is a little awkward to turn on. I find that I have to almost kick it a little to turn it on, rather than tapping it.

    « Very accurate; strange on/off mechanism »
    As others have reported, this scale is very accurate. Beware, I think the cheaper scales tend to register a lower weight...so it will appear that you have gained weight on this one! But I checked it against the doctor's scale and it is accurate.
    Would have given it 5 stars, but in order to turn it on, you have to nearly jump on the center of it. Would have been nice to do like a light double tap or a button on the side. Otherwise, it is great.
