« Best steam mop ever »
I have a toddler and three dogs. It seems I have tried every product out there for lamenate and tile floors. This mop is the best, it works great on my floors and they have never been cleaner. It is super easy and fast to use. Plus, after use, just throw the pad in the wash and it is ready to go for the next time. I am very happy with this purchase. I have had my mop for about 10 months and there have been no problems it works as well now as it did when I first used it, maybe better as the cleaning pads seem to get better as you wash them.

    « Haan Steam Mop »
I've heard rave reviews on this mop - used it for the first time last week. It worked great on the tile floors but on my dark cherry wood floors, I was a little disappointed. It left some streaky water marks. Maybe because I have been using Bruce hardwood floor cleaner and it needs to be cleaned off. I'll still try to see if works better in future tries. Also, my floors are very dark and spots, etc. show easily - sort of looked like it does when you wipe something but it doesn't get fully dry without a buffing motion.

« Excellent For What It Is »
This cleaner is not a vacuum, nor is it a small rug steamer. It is a chemical free alternative to disposable wet mops. It is easy to use and leaves tile floors almost instantly dry. Having said that, bear these facts in mind. It is not a replacement for a traditional scrubbing mop and a bucket of hot floor cleaner. If you have a really grungy floor, that remains your best path. It relies on a floor that has been broom or cloth-swept. If you have a light colored tile floor in your kitchen or other area that is subject to frequent spills and footprints, this will do fine, once you have swept. The pads have a very limited capacity for anything other than spills, so pet hair, kitty litter, sand, or anything that can't be be put in solution with hot water will just get pushed around. We have a lot of tile, light and dark and it does just fine. If you have set-in stains, the machine will not help you. Only old-fashioned scrubbing will avail. If your grout is light and not properly sealed, then no machine can help you. We have not tried the upholstery sanitizer tray and will probably try that on an old pillow first before using it on costly mattresses. A neat person living alone and who has tile would probably love this.

By the way, the manual that comes with this is one of the best owner's manuals seen recently, much better than many shipped with products of more cost and complexity.

« Haan vs. Shark steam mop »
Before I order the Haan FS20 plus steam mop I had two Shark and they were both not working after 6 months or so (even it's under the warranty, it's not worth the $ and effort to get a replacement). The first Shark broke after 6 use and the replacement worked for about 6 months and no more steam is coming out (I was using distill water not tap water).

This is my first use of the Haan FS20 and it work very well for the following reasons and I am not sure how reliable comparing with Shark.

    1. The steamer works with ease, it glides on my hard floor with ease and with little effort. The micro pad is probably the reason that it glides with ease unlike the Shark pads. I have a 1200 sq ft apartment and two micro pads took care of the whole place instead of Sharks four pads. The amount of dirt or what not at the bottom of the micro pads were all pretty evenly distributed.

    2. The adjustable handle helps in area where space is limited so you can adjust it to work in tight area and you can even use the mop going side to side instead of forward and backward motions.

Note: During my first use, the out of water red light comes on way sooner then it really should (water was half full). The base where you attached the handle is made out of plastic so it does make it a bit weak like the Shark so don't put too much pressure or it might just split or crack.

« If only it had actually cleaned anything »
I really wanted to love this product. The idea of cleaning without chemicals, no bucket of dirty water to spill, and being able to use the same product on my vinyl and hardwood was very appealing to me. Based on dozens of reviews I read, I chose the Haan FS 20. Things started out well - the unit was easy to assemble and the directions were very clear. The only problem was that it just didn't clean anything. And I wasn't giving it much of a test - It failed to clean spills on the kitchen floor that wiped up easily with a damp sponge. When I used it on my hardwood floor it left it very wet. Not puddles, but still wetter than I was happy with. I still like the idea of cleaning with steam, but I don't know if there is a steamer that actually works and doesn't cost a fortune. Unfortunately, this isn't it.
