Saves $$$ and is the BENCHMARK of space heaters!

After purchasing the previous model about 3 years ago for my basement, decided to buy another one for my bedroom at night instead of running the gas heat. Not only does it help those of us that are irritated by gas heat as it drys out the air, the biggest thing is you save alot of money as you are only heating the room you need to instead of an entire floor.
This new designed is improved on the previous one as heat comes out the top and the side.
You cannot go wrong with this Bionaire model unless you think it is intended to heat rooms with high ceilings which is not the case as anyone who knows a thing about heat knows heat rises. You cannot be disappointed in the product then when you buy the wrong kind of product to begin with.

Quiet, safe, & heats well
»
I've had this heater now for one week & am about to buy another one, because it works so well for my purposes. I have a toddler who loves to put his hands on everything & a baby who wakes up to any significant noise, so any heater I buy needs to be safe & quiet.
Safety
- The heater is warm, but not hot to the touch. So if my toddler runs into it or puts his hand on it, he will not get burned.
- The slim design allows me to place it against a wall, so he is less likely to tip it over.
- There is an automatic shut-off if the heater tips over.
Quiet
- The heater makes a very slight click when turning on or off, but there is no noise when the heating element is warming.
- My baby does not get woken up by the heater.
Heating function
- Works very well in heating up my medium sized bedroom, which is about 15 ft x 20 ft with 8 foot ceilings.
- The thermostat keeps the temperature stable.
Cons
- If the heater is off for a few days, it emits a plastic-type smell when turned back on. The smell lasts for 15 minutes of so.

This space heater by Bionaire has worked very well for me--and this is its second winter doing a tour of duty to keep my bedroom warm! With the price of home heating going sharply higher these days, I have saved a good deal of money with this reliable, light weight portable space heater. I may not understand what "Micathermic" actually means; but I do know it works great!
Setup is a breeze--all you essentially have to do is place the (almost) flat panel heater into the two legs that act as bases to keep the heater upright. Then just plug it in and it should work rather economically. For the sake of safety, keep water and other electrical cords and objects away from this and, if you can, close any door to the room this is heating for the maximum effect. The temperature gauge is very easy to operate; just turn the knob one way or the other and you can easily control the degree to which the heater heats the area.
They say that if it tips over it turns itself off automatically; but I cannot comment on this because this has never happened to my heater--at least not yet! The bases on which the heater rests are made of very sturdy plastic. There is a five year warranty but I doubt you'll need to use it--keep the instructions with the way to contact Bionaire just in case.
My only concern is that so many brands of space heaters might overheat when left on during the night. I would turn it off before going to bed. I know Bionaire advertises that it will automatically turn off if the machine tips over; but I still recommend turning it off at night just to be sure.
Overall, I can't say anything truly negative about this space heater. Bionaire may call this a "Micathermic" type of heater and use even more fancy jargon but it's essentially a well-made space heater that saves you a good amount of money on those awful winter home heating bills. I highly recommend this reliable product and I doubt you'll be disappointed. The price is higher than some other space heaters but it's worth it.

I tried this heater thinking that it would work in a room with high ceilings and that it did not. I had it on high for an hour and there was no temperature change in the room and I didn't even feel much of anything standing next to it. I am very disappointed in this because of all of the other reviews given on it here and at [...]. If you need to heat a bigger space that has tall ceilings then keep looking because this one does not work.

Works pretty good for a medium size bedroom to a not so bigger hall. It heat silently and you could see the temperature difference after some time. Keep it on high setting,and you could see the temp being raised fast.Definitely worth the BGE bill
