I have to say that I'm really very please with this carpet cleaner. I didn't think that a home cleaner could make the carpets look this good. I like the fact that it has separate tanks for the clean and dirty water and that you can do rinse-only passes to be sure that the detergent is removed. It gets the carpet really clean and removes all traces of pet accidents. It also extracts the water really well, so that the carpet is dry and ready to walk on in a few hours. I don't know how I've managed with 3 boys and 3 dogs without it.
I will admit that the first cleaner I got was defective. It just would not turn on. After talking to Hoover support, I returned the cleaner to Amazon. I was really happy I had ordered from Amazon, because they sent UPS to the house to pick up the defective cleaner and had a new one to me within a few days. Great service.

Poor Quality

The Hoover SteamVac cleans well but is not durable. I have only had it six months and have had to replace the top clean water tank twice. It easily becomes unseated and breaks when it falls. The handle on the bottom tank has also broken. After just six uses I am putting it in the trash and will buy a different brand.

Great carpet cleaner

This is great product, at a great price. I had previously rented units or had our carpet professionally cleaned. This unit went together easy, was up and running in less than 30 minutes. I have cleaned several rooms to date, it is easy to use and does a thorough job. The hose attachment with brush head does a good job on steps. The unit with water and cleaner is a bit heavy, but shouldn't be a problem unless you are going up and down stairs. Well satisfied!

Excellent product, only took 30 minutes to assemble and get running. I cleaned all of the carpeting in my house which is 5 years old looks like brand new carpeting again. I purchased this to rplace my 5 year old dirt devil upright steamer when the motor failed this is 10 times better. Purchased on a 1 day sale for $169, free shipping, the only thing I disliked was paying tax for NY state. Highly recommend do not buy a cheaper model like I did before, well worth the difference!!!
