Poor Quality connecting to PC

I and my friend purchased the Seagate Freeagent and we both lot of problems connecting this Harddrive to PC through USB (not only in my PC but I tested in HP, Dell, Sony etc...) I tried in Vista 32 and 64 bit OS.
1. The software provided is not compatible with 64 bit operating system. 2. PC shows "Unknown Device" and its a common but annoying problem. The solution is power cable should be unplugged and again plugged in(similar to restart). I checked whether the plug is little loose and hence I need to reconnect, but is not the case.
3. The device connection sometimes gets suddenly lost while we are in the middle of copying something. The system gets hung and we need to kill process or sometimes restart systems. (Additionally Resume is not available in 64 bit systems as software is not supported in it adds to the difficulty.)
4. The customer support is not that good.
2 and 3 is applicable to 32 bit os also. My friend Hard drive is completely dead( and he sent back to seagate for replacement. )I certainly do not recommend this drive.

The drive looks really cool, but died after less than 2 days of use after making clicking noise for intervals of time. Wasted hours of my time backing up files. Stay away from this drive!

An important message for prospective FreeAgent buyers

I've given this product 5 stars only on the chance that my own experience will catch the eyes of unwary customers.
"One point five terabytes for such a low price . . . it sounds To Good To Be True!"
Caveat, Caveat, Maxima Caveat.
The first thing you notice out of the box is the flimsy thin, white power cord with its Old World Phone Message Device look-and-feel. You will note that the drive itself has no "on" or "off" switch -- the power cord is either plugged in ("on") or not plugged in ("off").
If you've arrived at this point, then it's not too late to return the device for a refund. My 50 gigs of copied data represents my employer's proprietary information, so I cannot return it for my money back.
My FreeAgent failed during the middle of its first backup job. Literally 12 hours out of the box. At about 50 gigs through a system backup, it refused to copy any more files. The "Properties" window showed a solid pink disk, with stats reading: 0 used space, 0 free space. I unplugged and replugged the USB connection. Windows response: malfunctioning device, replace.
Go directly to the reviews of those who have given this product 1 star and believe everything they say.
Seagate still sells dependable external hard drives. Buy their acquired Maxtor line. My Maxtors have given me years of solid and reliable service. But run (don't walk) away from the FreeAgent ST315005FDA2E1-RK.

Started out great! Then it died... LEMONS!

As has been mentioned on here and other sites (Tiger, New Egg, etc) this drive is from a great company with a great history, but this LEMON POS has gotta be weeks from being recalled.
Mine worked great under OSX with MacFUSE/NTFS-3G and XP for about 2 weeks. Then the little punk died along with 200gig or so of my data. The disk didn't move off my desk the entire time, no drops, knocks or otherwise.
I love Seagate and I really love their FreeAgent drives (which is why I bought this even after reading the negative reviews here and elsewhere) but this model is a LEMON! DO NOT PURCHASE THIS DRIVE! There's a reason other reviews have mentioned instant RMAs, these things have a high failure rate - hence the no questions asked returns.
Seagate: Recall this POS and reissue a new model with these issues fixed. This is sullying your good name!

Fastest Failure Ever

I write this review to urge you to steer away from purchasing this product. After reading the four positive reviews on Amazon, I was excited to dive in and place massive quantities of video and audio on my new, shiny, iPod-like designed Seagate drive. I opened the drive on December 23rd and started by backing up all of the data I currently have externally stored. That worked well enough but with fairly slow transfer speeds.
The real kicker is that today, December 27th, after 5 days of using my new drive, it has started to click loudly and I can no longer read the data from the drive. I have tried many different techniques to bring my drive back to life with no luck. Very depressing. I strongly encourage you to not purchase this hard drive despite the relatively low cost and high capacity. I did not drop, kick, or otherwise mistreat my new drive.
On a surprising note, I made the purchase from [...] through Amazon, and when I called them with my issue, they immediately sent a shipping label to my Gmail account and they indicated that I should expect a full refund (including shipping) within the next few days. I will have to wait to see if it is as straightforward and quick as he claimed, but if it is, I could not imagine asking for a more responsive and sympathetic vendor (I believe the specific fellow's name was Ricardo - thanks Ricardo if you're out there).
I don't know if the failure is a one-in-a-million event, but your data is valuable to you and losing it is an expensive and time-consuming proposition. For your own protection, please do not let the low cost and familiar brand name entice you to buy this drive.
