With a beautiful, almost sculpturesque design, the stainless steel Vulkanus sharpener treats each knife like a work of art, giving blades both smooth and serrated a razor-sharp makeover.

Best, easiest sharpener I've had - Going on 5 years
»
I bought a Vulkanus knife sharpener (black plastic) out of curiosity about 5 years ago from a knife website. I have never had anything do a better, easier job of sharpening knifes. It's a little awkward holding onto the sharpener while moving the blade, but it does such a beautiful job, I don't worry about it.
I've tried about a half dozen other types and gave them away, including the motorized type (which heated the blade and also shortened the life of my knives by grinding off too much of the steel, even using low pressure).
Anyway, I don't usually write reviews, but this is one company I'd like to see stay in business. This sharpener is a smart piece of German engineering.

The best Knife Sharpener EVER!
»
This looks great on my kitchen counter and works like a charm. The moveable levers can sharpen any kind of knives including serrated! I love my knives and wouldn't trust them to anything else. This sharpens, hones, and polishes-- what could be better- or better looking?

Don't get this sharpener!
»
I received this as a gift from my husband two years ago for my birthday. I thought it was a great present until I found out he had been repairing the damage on my knives regularly. Apparently, this thing does not sharpen both sides equally, so the blade was bending and braking off chunks of the blade, leaving notches. He told me and then showed me how poorly the thing sharpened the blade and then he fixed all of my knives. We are getting rid of it.
