LG technology, an internal DVD player, and a slim profile - the result is an HDTV thats intuitive, attractive, stylish and advanced. Its pure LG. Save space with the built-in progressive scan DVD player. Side loading player upconverts DVDs to near 720p resolution and features LG "Super-Multi" technology which plays back almost any recordable disc based media. High definition television is the highest performance segment of the DTV system used in the US. It`s a wide screen, high-resolution video image, coupled with multi-channel, compact-disc quality sound. LG HDTVs include 3 AV Modes, preset to optimize picture and sound settings based on "Cinema", "Sports" or "Game" content. AV Modes can be easily set with a convenient button on the remote control. Automatically enhances and amplifies the sound of human voice frequency range to help keep dialogue audible when background noise swells. LG`s 2008 line of TVs include a unique invisible speaker system, tuned by renowned audio expert, Mr. Mark Levinson. Speakers are embedded in strategic spots behind the front cabinet and use minute vibrations to turn the entire front bezel into the speaker system. The result is a clean, polished look, and enhanced audio by increasing the "sweet spot" giving a wider sound field.

BUYER BEWARE
»
The two stars are for the acceptable picture. The non HD channels are not too sharp. A lot of pixalation with action movies. The DVD player is VERY noisy and if you turn up the volume you can hear the noise through the speakers. The tv hasn't got much volume so you have to really turn it up to play a movie and with volume comes more noise from the DVD player.I have the DVD audio hooked up to a surround amp and the speakers pick up the motor noise. It sounds like some kind of a ground problem inside the unit. I also see a tiny red laser like dot in the screen on all channels that I suspect is a bad pixel. Needless to say, I am sending it back.

Decent picture, not the best sound, noisy DVD
»
I purchased the 32LG40 last Sunday. I really wanted a HDTV/DVD combo, and this looked pretty good in the store. It shipped quick (Tuesday), but I didn't have time to set it up until Saturday. The picture is acceptable, but the sound can be buzzy and tinny on some cable stations. My big problem is with the DVD player. First, its pretty noisy. Second, it sends feedback through the TV speakers. It's loud enough to be distracting when watching a movie. I can't believe that it is supposed to operate like this. I contacted LG's service department and they told me to contact a local TV repair shop to see if it can be repaired under warranty. I hope it can be repaired, but I'm afraid I'm going to hear, "that's just the way it is".

Excellent TV!
»
I saw this TV in a store before looking online, & compared to other TVs side-by-side (in price range) this one is by far the best in picture. With the built-in DVD player & Amazon's current price holding, it can't be beat. Bright whites, dark blacks, vibrate colors, & an easy-to-use interface. Without hesitation I'd recommend this TV to anyone. Simply put: for price, cannot be beat in quality; no need to look any further.
