Doesn't Seem to Last

I purchased this unit about 3 months ago. It was terrific. My wife and I enjoyed checking the outside temp to see whether we should wear a sweater/jacket, etc. when we went out. The numerals are just big enough to be seen from 10 feet away, and the unit is small enough to be unobtrusive on the kitchen counter. We loved it, until...
The outside temp stopped displaying a few days ago. It is dead as a doornail.
We will buy another indoor/outdoor wireless unit, but not from La Crosse.

This unit is reasonably constructed but has the following UI problems that cause it to be less than perfect:
1) Oddly enough, this unit links the 24 display on the clock to metric (C) readings. So, if you want 24/F, or 12/C, you are out of luck.
2) The base thermometer air inlet is at the center of the two buttons, but its appearance makes it look like a third button. Poor placement.

A Three Dog Night

I just finished building three doghouses, each one complete with Hound Furnaces to keep the pups toasty at night. And just in time too. The temperature is dipping down below freezing now, and last year, everyone sold out of the Hound Heaters around this time. So the dogs slept inside in the utility room all winter long. Big hassle.
With the Hound Heaters set to around 70 degrees for the beagle, 65 for the golden retriever, and 45 for the german shepherd/chow mix, we wanted to make sure all three were functional each night before sending the dogs outside to sleep. So we bought the La Crosse base station and 2 extra sensors/transmitters from Amazon.
I used Velcro to attach the remote sensors/transmitters to the inside of the doghouses because I didn't want to fumble with the tiny screws and anchors provided. The pictures of the sensors are deceiving. They are actually very small devices, probably about the size of a credit card, but skinnier. Each one was mounted at about the same level as the dog's head when lying down.
The doghouses are about 75 feet from the kitchen window, but we get great reception everywhere in the house. No problems there. As for accuracy, that's still up in the air. Hard to tell. The first night, I had all 3 sensors side by side outside on the deck, and they were all within 1 degree of each other. But once mounted inside the doghouse, there are so many variables, it makes it difficult to gauge their accuracy; like the dead zone of the Hound Heater thermostat, the construction of the doghouses, whether the dog was inside or not, etc. To be honest, I don't need great accuracy, just enough to know that the dog isn't freezing, or on fire for that matter.
Overall, the 3 sensor setup is nearly perfect for our purpose. Very easy to spin throgh the 3 channels and check each doghouse. Fun too. I just wish I had an outdoor thermometer so I could know how cold it is outside. I guess I can leave the base station outside on the deck and use the indoor temperature reading. Still, I'm satisfied.
