OXO's user-friendly food scale with pull-out display is perfect for weighing all ingredients. Weigh items directly on the platform, on a plate or in a bowl, and pull the display away from the base to prevent shadowing from large plates and bowls. Accurately measure ingredients when cooking and baking and stick to a diet by weighing portions. An optional backlight makes the display easier to read and a weight indicator shows the capacity left on the Scale before maximum capacity is reached. Press the zero button to offset the weight of a container or to set the weight back to zero so you can add additional ingredients. The display features large, easy-to-read numbers which measure in 1/8-oz (imperial) and 1-g (metric) increments. The stainless steel platform can be removed for cleaning but no parts are dishwasher safe. The scale has an 11-lb capacity and 4 AAA batteries are included. Measures in 1/8-oz (imperial) and 1-g (metric) increments for greater accuracy Easy-to-read, large display numbers Stainless steel platform can be removed for cleaning Thin profile allows for easy storage

Expensive, but worth it

An accurate, compact set of scales that's easy to use, and functions well. Missing 1 star purely due to the price.

OXO Does It Again!
»
This is my second digital food scale. I loved the first, a Salter 3007, but as another Amazon member warned me I would, I melted it on top of the toaster. It still worked fine, but after the battery need to be replaced, I decided to get a new scale.
Here's why I love the OXO Food Scale:
1. Easy to use. The buttons are simple; no instructions needed to figure stuff out; very intuitive design.
2. Very accurate.
3. Very precise. This things measures single grams. My previous scale measured grams in increments of 5.
4. Pull-Out Display. Very helpful when working with oversized items
5. Uses AAA batteries. No looking for strange batteries
I had to slow down on my baking when the other scale died. I am now back in full swing! Just in time for Thanksgiving!

Worth the money
»
I was a bit apprehensive to spend this much on a scale, but I have since used the two main features multiple times and so I think it has paid for itself. The pull out display is very useful and the zero function is fantastic. If there is a downside, it would be that the display updates with a very slight lag so as I pour more of an ingredient into a bowl, the measurement isn't instant. So just add more of your ingredient gradually and you'll be fine.

I bought this scale because Cook's Illustrated recommended it. As usual, Cook's was right; it is really a great gadget.

Great little scale.
»
This is a great little scale. It is easy to store. It has the great pull out panel for easy reading and I like the zero out feature or tare so ingredients can be weighed in the bowl, zeroed out and more ingredients added. I didn't give it 5 stars because it only uses fractions rather than decimals in the read out.
