I had to make 10 lbs of potato salad for Thanksgiving so I went online to see if I could find a nice peeler and I came across the Peel a Meal Electric Peeler. Despite the rave reviews I was a little leery but decided to give it a try. I was shocked! This thing really works. I had peeled all 10 lbs of potatos in about 6 minutes. I just used it again for Christmas eve dinner to make Mashed potatos and again it worked perfect. It is also very easy and quick to clean.

I tried this peeler for the first time today and everything went smoothly. The directions are easy to follow and it is designed for peeling small and medium size potatoes, carrots and apples. The potatoes and carrots have to be cut so they are about 1/2 inch shorter than the hub to wall bowl distance -- the maximum length is 2-3/4 inches (I had a large potato, so I cut it in half, then sliced about 3/4 inch off each piece to fit).
It took only 1-1/2 minutes for the potato (a russet) to be perfectly peeled. The peeler exerts a strong motion, but does not jump out of place. I held my hand on the lid just in case, but it was not necessary.
It also comes with an insert piece - a salad spinner with ring. The spinner can also be used as a colander at the end of the peeling process. All is dishwasher safe except the see-through cover and the motarized base.
In making recipes where many ingredients have to be peeled, this machine really lightens the task. I am very pleased with my purchase.
