    « o.k. thermometer »
The weather focasting is a little vague.

i wish the description of the device had said that the remote was included, with the main unit. I ordered a remote unit ,and now I have an extra outside remote unit.

« This sensor works fine so far »

I bought this sensor to go along with my La Crosse Weather Station La Crosse Technology WS-7014CH-IT Wireless Weather Station as an extra sensor for one of the rooms in our home. I chose this weather station over some of the others because it's possible to use it with 3 different sensors. I wanted to monitor a couple rooms in the house as well as the outdoor temperature. One sensor comes with the unit. The additional sensors show up on the lower right hand side of the main unit and you can see them by pushing a little button to view each one. (I posted a photo of this on the weather station's page) The main unit records the temperature wherever it's placed.

The only part that was a little tricky was putting in the batteries and starting it up for the first time. You have to put the batteries in the sensors first, before the main unit. And it says that you have to put the batteries into the main unit within 30 seconds of the others. It was easy enough to do but I wonder if it really has to be that precise?

At any rate, I like the sensor so far and it seems to be accurate. I'm a little concerned about the sensor that is outside getting wet. It's protected under an eve, but how do you prevent anything outside from getting wet in a blowing rain? I'll report back after a couple months usage.

    « May Be OK »
I was looking for a replacement transmitter and this product was recommended to me by Amazon.com to go with my La Crosse Weather Station - the picture on Amazon.com of the weather station is exactly the one I have - HOWEVER Amazon needs to update the picture - the one they have is a 433 mhz model - but this transmitter is for a 915 mhz model - SO - doesn't work with what I have. Bottom line - it may be just fine with the right weather station - but I wasted my money buying this because it doesn't work with mine. :(

« Works good in constant freezing temperatures »
First off, heed the warnings from the manufacturer: don't put these in locations where they can get heavily rained on, and don't put them in direct sunlight.

I purchased this sensor as an add-on to a LaCrosse Weather Station so I can monitor an additional location. I've had it for a number of months now. This sensor is located in the backyard, attached to a deck underneath an overhang so it doesn't get too wet.

I live in a part of the country where the winters are long and harsh. We've had temperatures below freezing for almost two months straight now, with a low of -15F so far this season, and this sensor is still working. If it makes it through May (the end of our winter) I'll be surprised. I'll post an update if I have any problems!

    « Outside Temperature Reader »
The reason I purchase a second remote along with the wireless weather station was to have one outside and to place this unit in my garage. I use this to monitor the temperature due to the appliances, and the need to maintain a minimum of 40 degrees. This work great for this.
