A perfectly fine piece of equipment...

I've been a pilot since 1959, and we fly airplanes by the book. This little "hundred buck" chinese generator arrived in a couple of days and replaced its Honda "thousand buck' counterpart that we had on loan here.
The first thing was to shake the hand of our UPS guy. The box did'nt have even a small ding on it. No broken spark plug or things of that nature. It's pro-packaged and boxed with a hefty double styrofoam holder just like any good technical product.
By the book: Just make sure that you do (regardless of how impatient you like to be) "nuff said".
Yes its 2-cycle, mix the oil/gas etc. Your option: $900 more money.
I ordered and put in a high-end Bosch spark plug ($10) and it went from smoothe and quiet, under load, to really smoothe and quiet. It runs at the same noise level as the Honda did, just outside on the front porch.
It has outstanding load/speed control, very responsive. I could hear the slight change in pitch, and load correction, as the computer was loading internet pages and then finishing. You can't get any better than that.
A gallon of gas gets you 4.5 to 5 hours of power.
By the book...enjoy...nuff said.

Worth the money

Pros -- works well for the price. Simple with some nice features. I like the ability to drain the carb, thus allowing for simple long-term storage. Would recommend it.
Cons -- Louder than I thought. However, no complaint..

Luv the little thing
»
Gassed it up and started on third or forth pull, which is normal for not having had gas in carburetor. Grabbed a 1 3/4 horsepower circular saw rated at 10 amps (1200 watts) and it started and ran (it did take a bit longer to come up to speed than it does plugged into the wall). I just sold my 20 year old 5kw generator. It was heavy, hard to start, noisy, and it would burn 5gal of gas overnight (it only had about 20 hrs). I have not had to put this in service yet, but it seems tight like it will have no problem running all night.
It is very quiet, light to move, and easy to start. I think my wife or son would have no problem starting or moving it around, if I'm out of town. I bought this mainly to run our furnace blower during power outages. It should run quietly all night on less than a gal of gas.
I will probably buy another bigger generator later to run a microwave or possibly an air conditioner, but it will be newer running on LP and definitely have overhead valves.

Great Price

Great Deal. Shipped quick. A little hard to start at first. Better after a brief run in. It leaks a little gas when sitting for a few days but just turn off the gas valve to solve this. It performs very well with my 60 minute test of running a small TV. Cant beat for the money.
