Created by tableware designer and gourmet cook Debbie Segura in 2001, Sorrento is perhaps Signature Houseware's most popular dinnerware pattern. Sorrento stoneware suits almost any kitchen décor with its rustic, Italian countryside feel, showing a raised dot and olive leaf patterning on most of the solid-colored, thickly-glazed pieces. Square plates are also available, and bakeware and glassware complete the extensive collection, now available in more than half a dozen colors ranging from neutral suede to bright ruby red. While these three canisters beautifully match Sorrento dinnerware, they also stand on their own merit as attractive kitchen accessories. The small, medium, and large canisters hold 36, 48, and 80 ounces of coffee, tea, flour, sugar, cookies, or dried pasta. Each domed lid is fitted with a silicone seal to keep contents fresh, and each canister is embossed with a different dot-and-olive pattern. If necessary, the lead-free, chip-resistant stoneware containers may go in a low-temperature oven or a microwave for warming food, and when cleaning is required, they slip into the dishwasher. The set makes a great gift for the Sorrento collector. --Ann Bieri

Seals are NOT airtight
»
When I received my order, I loved the look of the canisters. They looked exactly as they did online. I was glad that the color was true to the pictures at Amazon.
However, once I stored sugar in one of my canisters, the problem with the "airtight" seal became apparent. Water got into the sugar and it hardened. The problem is that the seals are cheap. They don't seem to be made for this set. They make it difficult to seat the lid on its base properly. On the other hand, the seals come off so easily (some may say too easily) that they're easy to clean.

Get the Signature Housewares Platter, too!

This is the best canister set I've seen. The lids fit tightly and the quality is very nice. Fortunately, I was able to view the product at a store before ordering at Amazon! Also, the Signature Housewares Rectangular Platter fits perfectly under the set and gives a nice and tidy appearance! Also, the platter fits a loaf of bread which is very useful.

I Love it!

These canisters are even prettier than the pictures show. I do wish they were larger or that there was a fourth larger one.

Love this set!

These are really cute and well made. Not too big, not too small. The seal inside the cover is nice for a gentle closing and to maintain freshness.

One-time only mistake?
»
Well, these are what they are... cannisters with lids for storing things. There isn't a lot about these that are special, but there was one thing quite concerning about the lid when I got it.
I don't know if all orders come this way, or just mine... but there was a fine layer of what felt like fiberglass dust coating the silicone stopper on the underside of the lid.
I'm not particularly comfortable with the idea of people using these to store food (flour, sugar, etc) and not noticing this powder.
