Release your memories with the 8" digital photo frame from Westinghouse Digital. Memories stored in PC's or on memory cards can now be unleashed with this high resolution (800x600) LCD digital photo frame. Featuring 128 MB of internal memory, MosaicView technology, favorite picture selection and photo shuffle, this frame makes a great gift especially preloaded with images.

Nice features but a frustrating experience.
»
This is the first LCD frame I've owned. These are the pros and cons in terms of features.
Pros:
Supports multiple memory card formats
Internal memory of 128mb
Supports video and audio file playback
Big 8" screen, and 800x600 resolution
AC powered
Mini-Usb port
Cons:
No remote
No option for battery power/AC adapter is bulky and cumbersome
No USB cable
This review is going to be fairly negative because I had quite a few issues with this device. Connecting the frame to my Vista PC resulted in Explorer behaving fairly erratically. You're supposed to connect it before turning the frame on. After powering on the frame, Vista sometimes tried to run a scandisc. Other times, it'd open the internal memory and would not show any available files. Or everything would work as it should... then when I attempted to copy jpegs to the drive, the source jpgs would mysteriously not be found. I simply could not replicate _that_ particular issue whenever I did anything else.
When I didn't encounter any hitches and managed to get jpegs onto the internal ram (or onto a SD card; I could not get the USB port to function correctly) I had lots of problems in getting jpegs to be recognized by the frame. Right now I have 12 pictures on the frame. 2 are not recognized, 10 are. Of the 10 files that work fine, 2 are 2592x1944, 3 are 640x480, 1 is 473x2506, 1 is 1600x1200, 1 is 160x120 and 2 are 320x445. So the size of the jpegs is not the issue here if I can take a large megapixeled file and load it without changing anything.
The frame software takes some getting used to but isnt hard to use. You select a picture and click on the menu button and you're given a few choices. Whatever you do though isn't permanent except for copy or delete (when those are available). Rotating an image doesnt make the rotation permanent and the frame does not remember this request later.
While connected via USB, the frame will not display images.
The pictures that have worked on the frame look great, and I'd really like to like this frame, but it's frustrating that every picture I try to load onto the frame gives me a "not supported" error.

Very Nice Frame!!!!

Westinghouse 8-Inch LCD Digital Photo Frame I have owned this frame since Last year and enjoy it very much!!! I use the mosiac feature and love the 4 pictures it displays every couple of seconds!!! The only problem I had was it hung up when I added 50 new pictures. I checked and found one of the new pictures I added was in BMP format. It seems to work best with pictures in JPG format!! I deleted that 1 BMP picture and it is working great once again without hanging up!!!! Very nice for the price so I bought another one for my son!!!!!

No more black bar
»
It's hard to separate the pictures in portrait from landscape orientation. So I suggest to rotate all the portrait pictures back to landscape and store all of them into the built-in memory. All the rest landscape pictures are stored in the external SD or CF. Then you only need to change the storage media to get portrait or landscape pictures and no more worry about the black bar. Since the internal memory has 128mb limit, the number of total portrait pictures could not exceed 800 around.

Better than expected. :)

I just got this today. It'll be a gift for my mom. To test it out, I put some pictures in a SD card and insert it in the slot. I didn't pick up the SD card in the beginning and I thought something was wrong. I moved the SD card and pushed it in a little and it worked. The Color is very vibrate compared to the PanDigital one my nephew got. The 4 pictures mosiac is a nice feature and you can choose to display it with one picture at time if you prefer. It plays video too but no sound. The only thing I wish it has is volume to the videos. Otherwise, I'm happy with it for now.

Westinghouse 6 mo warranty, breaks in less than a year
»
I received this from my daughter at Christmas. Started to use about Feb '08. Started to give problems about Aug'08 and self destructed Oct'08.
Made in China. Can't they make something that you don't have to throw away in "special" trash that lasts more than a year or 2. This just sat on the desk, no movement, ect First to go was the Menu buttons, ect. Instructions have always been incomplete. Used a flashdrive with it the whole time.
Would not buy another.
