Useless and unreturnable
»
This piece of junk never worked. It's completely useless. Doesn't charge, completely non-functional. And to return it, you have to get to a Coleman Repair/Distribution center. If there's not one you can get to (and there probably isn't), you have to ship it to them and you pay the shipping. So it costs almost as much as the pump just to get your money back.
Absolute Garbage.

Terrible Pump
»
It does the job, but it is very loud and it takes forever just to fill a one man kayak. I am appalled at the other reviews that were pleased with this product. It is nice that it is rechargeable, but just needs more power to be effective. I would look elsewhere, which is what I am doing, but who knows when this piece of junk gets good reviews!

Works better than expected!
»
I bought the pump to inflate my Coleman kayak and was very pleased to see how quickly it worked. It's great for what it was intended to do - inflate toys and small rafts. It only took a few minutes to get up and going and on the water. Would highly recommend it for such uses.

very loud; arrived uncharged and defective
»
I measured the noise level of this unit at 97dBA at arm's length. That's about as loud as a train going by a hundred feet away. If you pull into a campground at night and want to inflate something, you better have a bullet-proof vest on if you use this thing.
The hose is a convenient feature, especially for air mattresses. However, the unit does not come with any provision for stowing the hose, greatly increasing the likelihood that you will lose or damage it.
This unit uses a 6V sealed lead-acid battery. That means it feels heavy, thanks to the lead.
My unit arrived with a dead battery. If you've ever had a dead battery in your car, and then found that it never really was as good afterwards, you'll understand why lead-acid batteries are usually shipped in a charged state (unless they are shipped dry).
In addition, after a full day of charging, the unit still did not work. A few seconds of charging corrected this, indicating that there is some other defect.
Despite these shortcomings, this is a useful unit, assuming you get one that is defect-free.

not bad, but consider...
»
This pump came charged in the box, and got it to inflate my large kayak quickly. The deflation mode is nice. Two things to consider:
1) while it inflated the kayak quickly up to a point, it really doesn't put out enough pressure to make it fully taunt.
2) nice that it recharges and can be taken camping, etc., but would have been better off buying one with a car battery recharger vs electric outlet (though I have not yet been in a situation where it ran out of juice).
