What a beautiful block to store your knives
»
Just received this the other day, and it's a beautiful and quality product. The bamboo provides a striking visual texture, and aesthetic alternative to a plain jane wood block. There's a beautiful multi-tone grain running along the sides of the block.
The block comes with 4 rubber feet, which hold the block securely to any surface. As another reviewer noted, the space for the shears comes with a notch to accommodate the bolt, which is a thoughtful touch. Unfortunately, none of the slots are wide enough to hold my 6" cleaver, but they do hold my 7" Santokus without difficulty
It's a beautiful piece to complement your collection of high end knives.

On the Wusthof 17-slot Bamboo Knife block...
»
If you are in the market for a knife storage block, there's really only four things to consider... 1) How many knives do you need it to hold, 2) Who makes the best, 3) What is it made of, and 4) How much do you want to spend. I needed the 17-slot, there are other blocks with more and less storage space. The best blocks are made from reputable Cutlery suppliers, and Wusthof stands alone at the top. Wusthof makes blocks from maple, oak, and bamboo, where bamboo is the most water resistant. When it comes to price, amazon.com with the super-saver shipping made this purchase an easy decision. I was not disappointed in the least with that decision.

Elegant knife storage
»
The bamboo block is very nicely styled, the natural bamboo grain a nice option to traditional wood. Horizontal slots prevent the knife edge resting on wood. This block has a notch to accomodate the round bolt-head in the shears. The slots are at a lower angle than our last block, and thus knives are easier to pull out from underneath our cabinets.
Overall better designed and better looking than our prior Wusthof block.
