Sometimes, half an inch makes all the difference. But that's not the only reason to step up to the 735. Its powerful 10,000 rpm motor will handle anything you feed it--oak, walnut, exotics--with absolute ease. The three-knife cutterhead will make 96 or 179 cuts per inch, depending on which speed setting you choose. Mess is minimized with the fan-assisted chip ejection, which literally vacuums chips off the cutter-head and blows them out the exhaust. The 735's automatic carriage lock will save you from snipe by reducing the movement that causes it--what a great idea. We also love the redesigned thickness scale--it's big and super-visible, even in poor lighting. Those who do repetitive cuts will appreciate the turret depth-stop; set your most-used cuts to it once and you're always assured of accuracy. The home woodworker will be thrilled, and the professional's expectations will be more than met. This is a winner. -- Kris Jensen-Van Heste

great buy

i received my dewalt DW735R planer two weeks ago. it came without damage. i was a bit concerned ordering it from the west coast since it would have to come all the way cross country to South Carolina. i had read all the reviews about it being damaged when delivered, but i was very pleased when it showed up looking brand new, and the price was right at $389.00. i will order from them again. the planer is easy to operate and does a very good job. i ordered this item for my husband, he is the carpenter of the family! thanks vickie and joe reese

great planer
»
After reading the reviews of the shipping of reconditioned DeWalt DW735R planers, I was a bit apprehensive, but I actually prefer factory reconditioned on the assumption that they found the original bugs and fixed the equipment. Like Paul Paqel, mine arrived in pristine condition and a well packed and sturdy box.
I hooked it up to the dust collector and produced a beautiful finish on 1x6 and 2x6 rough cedar boards.
I built a table for the planer (photo; 24x48x30" high) that holds the feed surface level with a melamine infeed and outfeed extension surface - easy to build and reasonable cost.
