This hygrometer is finished in antiqued copper, uses a 4.25 inch diameter dial face and is great for monitoring greenhouses, sunrooms or problem areas. Included is an outdoor swivel arm bracket for mounting at just the right angle, as well as an indoor mounting pin. Hygrometers measure the moisture content of the air to determine the relative humidity. Our mechanical hygrometers take advantage of a time-tested method in which a synthetic fiber expands as it absorbs moisture from the air. This expansion, in turn, moves the metal coil to which it is bonded. As the coil twists, the pointer moves up the scale. As the fiber dries, the coil contracts and the pointer reverses direction. Relative humidity ranging from 45 to 70 percent is generally considered to be comfortable. Use in combination with a humidifier or de-humidifier to maximize your comfort

As summer fades into fall and the days grow shorter, planning outdoor activities and appropriate dress requires more information than a quick glance at the sky. The deceptive shining sun often disguises crisp fall days. However, an outdoor thermometer generally provides enough information to ensure that the family keeps cozy on a weekend excursion to a pumpkin patch or in the bleachers at a Peewee football match. For reliable temperature readings, Conant Custom Brass offers this outdoor weather system. The weather system body is crafted of solid copper in Burlington, Vermont. The solid construction guarantees years of use without chipping, peeling, or rusting to the veneer. An antique finish lends the copper a classic appearance. Protected by a glass window, the 4-1/2-inch diameter thermometer dial displays temperatures ranging from -40 to +120 degrees F. A Celsius scale also marks temperatures on the thermometer. An inset 1-inch hygrometer tracks humidity levels. The weather station attaches to a wall or beam with a swivel arm allowing users to adjust for individual viewing comfort. This item is guaranteed for life. The weather station weighs 12.8 pound upon shipping. --Jessica Reuling

Is this a knock-off?
»
I bought this in April '08, but didn't get it outside until May. When it was 88 degrees outside according to the car and a local bank, the thermometer read 110 degrees. I agree with another reviewer about the paper face. I didn't have mine long enough for it to warp, but it sure looked cheap and like it would warp one day. I returned mine and Amamzon only refunded $26. Not so good for a defective item. I'll amend this review if they decide to give me a full refund. I'm not at all convinced that this item is made by Conant. I think it's a fake.

Conant Copper thermometer

Copper is lovely. The inside is some paper and has already started to warp either from heat or moisture. I should have hung it where it is not exposed to the weather. A good blast of wind makes it swivel away where I can't see it. Have to adjust it after a strong wind.

Small and beautiful

This is a compact thermometer that mounts easily and looks great. The scale goes much lower than needed in temperate climes, but all in all a very nice purchase. I will be buying another one for the kitchen window.

This makes the 2nd Conant product that I have purchased, and both of them have totally exceeded my expectations. The craftsmanship, and quality of materials is immediately evident in both of the products I purchased. Would recommend the Conant line strongly.
