Softened butter on freshly baked bread is one of life's little luxuries. But butter stored in the refrigerator is impossible to spread without tearing the bread. This porcelain butter keeper solves the problem by enabling you to safely store your butter out of the refrigerator, so it stays soft and spreadable. White. ½ cup (¼ pound)/125 millilitre capacity. Fill the base of the butter keeper with ¼ cup of cold water. Pack softened butter into the cup of the lid and invert onto the base of the butter keeper. The water creates a complete seal around the cup to keep the butter fresh. For best results, store away from sunlight, stove, or oven. Replace the water in the base of the butter keeper every three days with fresh cold water. Wash the butter keeper thoroughly in between use. Not recommended for processed cheeses or foodstuffs. Freezer, oven, microwave, and dishwasher safe. Vitrified and non-porous, it will not craze, crack, discolour, or absorb unwanted flavours.

Great Butter Keeper
»
The butter bell is always handy and keeps the butter spreadable. I gave it as a gift to family members and they love it.

Butter Keeper is a keeper
»
The butter keeper is one of the best "kitchen gadgets" I have. It's a 'must have' for people who love the taste of real butter. I don't know how I ever got along without it. I no longer have to struggle with cold, hard butter. It glides onto bread, rolls, veggies, etc., and it's attractive to keep on the counter. I'd highly recommend it to anyone who eats butter.

Nice!

Received this butter bell a few weeks ago....in fact, I just refilled it tonight. I had never heard of a butter bell before.....found out about it on a message board, and couldn't find one local. I hate "cold unspreadable butter," and always kept mine out. But this summer, I ended up taking a bite of rancid butter because it was really hot/humid out and it was down to the end of the tub. Since I didn't smell it before spreading, I didn't know it was bad before tasting....yuk! Anyway, this one is cute. The shipping was almost as much as the bell, so that was a little disappointing, and this was the "cheapest" one. I wish it held a little more butter. It just barely holds a stick...I usually have some left over I have to put in the fridge, but all in all, I like it!

Wicked handy

It looks great and does it's job admirable. Thick and sturdy, I love this thing. Grilled cheese sandwiches are so much easier to make when you have soft butter, and you can use real butter, not margarine. Good stuff.
