Use the smart base to chop delicate items like tomatoes and herbs cleanly, with no smashing. Or, simply chop directly onto a chopping block. For best results, halve produce and chop skin down. The plunger locks in the down position for easy storage. Top rack dishwasher safe for easy clean up.

I was totally disappointed in this chopper. The base is too small, the blades are not that sharp. I really wish I had just bought another Pampered Chef.

I bought this for my mom and she started using it during the traditional candy making in my family. Well-- her sisters loved it. They wanted one too. Since this chopper has the rotating motion while chopping it does wonders on nuts and hard candies. It will chop them to a fine mist if you don't stop. It also comes with an extra storage cup. And with the smart base you can either chop on the table or use the flexible base or use the extra plastic cup.

This item is a handy item to chop up many types of vegetables. It doesn't do as great a job on things like basil leaves but it sure does a nice job on peppers, onions, etc.
