Churchill, a British producer of tableware for more than 200 years, has thoughtfully created a pattern specifically for the celebration of the most food-focused of American family holidays--Thanksgiving--with a design transfer-printed from an early American copperplate engraving. The Thanksgiving Turkey Full-Color 20-piece dinnerware set includes dinner and salad plates, a multi-purpose bowl, and a cup and saucer, providing the basics for a festive table for four. The turkey featured in the Churchill Thanksgiving Turkey design is highly detailed, as if from an antique natural history engraving; the bird stands in full-tailed display amid a cluster of ferns. The borders of each piece consist of equally detailed drawings of forest flora: blackberries, acorns, oak leaves, and simple wild rose blossoms. The color palette includes soft blues, reds, golds, and greens in the muted tones of a hand-tinted photograph. Each piece has a subtle spiral fluting, mostly on the rims; it is most pronounced on the coffee/tea cups.
