Many modern homes have up-to-date clocks or mini weather stations that depend on radio-transmitted data to stay calibrated and current. The La Crosse TX3UP works outdoors by sensing temperature and transmitting that information to an indoor station. It transmits to a base up to 80 feet away. The TX3UP can be added to augment information fed into La Crosse units already in operation. Plus, the 10-foot probe cord helps monitor soil or water temperatures. Remove batteries from base units first and activate sensors; next replace batteries in base units and press no buttons until a display appears. The TX3UP can be used as one of multiple sensors; many La Crosse weather stations allow numbers to be assigned so that it's clear which displayed information is from which sensor. The TX3UP operates on two AAA batteries. Its housing is made of durable, neutral-tone plastic. The sensor works with all La Crosse weather clocks and stations except the Professional Weather Center Series: WS-2010, WS-2210, WS-2310, WS-2315, WS-2510, and WS-7015. For options in wall mounting, two screws and screw anchors and a strong adhesive tape are included. The TX3UP measures 3 by 2-1/4 by 1 inch. La Crosse provides a one-year limited warranty on its sensors. Each sensor comes with a detailed instruction sheet. --Garland Withers

Great for a hot tub
»
I've had this in my hot tub since I bought it, it's held up well. the display is hard to read at an angle and no back light but that hasn't been an issue for me as I use my house weather station to read it.
1 year later - I've been through a set of batteries, and lately my weather station hasn't been getting a very reliable signal from it. It still picks up my other sensors fine so I'm sure it has something to do with this unit. The unit still shows the correct temp on the display.

Can't do without it...
»
This is a great device for checking your swimming pool or hot tub temperatures without having to go outside. Range is excellent, accuracy is good, battery life is very good, and the price was tolerable.
Since I have two different remote sensors and one receiver, changing the batteries in the device makes you go through set-up procedures that are equivalent to standing on your head, spinning around three times, and clicking your heels; but thankfully the batteries last a long time and this isn't that big of an issue.

Good overall, wiring a little flimsy
»
I bought this sensor along with the WS-9013U from LaCrosse (see that review). I use it to monitor the temperature on my hot tub, I get both the display inside on the weather station (which is awesome) and the LCD display outside at the tub itself. Note, the LCD is not backlit at all, so it's unreadable in the evening. I've had it installed for about 6 months now on the same battery and haven't had to change it yet. It seems fairly accurate and matches the temp. settings on the tub.
My one minor gripe is that the wire the sensor is on is fairly low-gauge and flimsy. I wound several wraps of electrical tape around mine where the filter lid rubs against it. Overall quite satisfied.

Excellent Product

I use this sensor to monitor the water temp in my in-ground pool. At a glance I can see the temp displayed on my Lacrosse Weather Station.Amazon also provided the best overall price when you factor in the shipping cost which is where other retailers get you.
