A versatile unit with cordless convenience, this Black and Decker DustBuster 3-in-1 vacuum is a handy tool around the house and workshop. The machine converts to three different configurations: a full-height floor vacuum, a handheld power brush vacuum, and a compact DustBuster. In each configuration, the vacuum collects dust and debris into a roomy dirt cup, filtering out the smaller particles. Suitable for carpets, hard floors, and upholstery, the 12-volt machine is easy to convert and use. Its connecter switches and power buttons are large and simple, and the 10-inch floor nozzle glides easily. Though not the equal of a full-size vacuum if you have a house full of carpet, the unit is great for kitchens, bathrooms, small hardwood areas, stairs, quick pick-ups, and dry spills. Plus, its cordless power means fast, convenient, unfettered cleaning. The unit comes with a rechargeable battery and a charging unit, as well as a hook for hanging it on the wall. Fully charged (16 hours), the unit runs between 14 and 17 minutes on average. One minor drawback to this model--in its fullest size, the vacuum does not stand up by itself. It is lightweight and maneuverable, however, so this does not present a big problem. In its floor vac shape, the unit stands 42-1/2 inches high. one of the handiest little gadgets for the home.you still need a prpoer vaccum but this is just great when you cant be bothered to lug out the vaccum!I have 3 of them around the house as I have dogs and the hairs are everywhere.the dustbuster by itself seems to have more suction than thr vaccum part but its still good. definitely recommend.

Doesn't pick up much and very loud

I bought this vacuum based on the reviews it received and I was very disappointed. For a dustbuster it is very loud. Much louder than what I was looking for. As loud as a full on heavy duty vacuum. Considering it does not pick up much on the carpet or the floor, I can't imagine why it has to make so much noise. I returned it after one use. The filter was completely clogged with dust after the one use and will need to be cleaned after each use. Don't waste your money on this one. If you are looking for a lightweight vacuum for the floor and short carpets consider the Swivel Sweeper touchless. It works great picking up dust, sand, dirt, food off our hardwood floors and does a light cleaning on our wool rug. It is not perfect, but it works just as well as sweeping yourself.

Mixed feelings

I've had two units. The great part about this unit is the smaller dust buster for little jobs. The other review is that two of the four tiny wheels have come off because the pins came loose. I almost fixed the problem with a nail cut to same size and a flat faucet washer. Now the unit is not even but still performs. After five years of service I'm not complaining, but it just will not die so I can buy a third.
B&D has the only vac in a vac.

My kids love it!

I ordered this after using something similar at a friend's house. It's handy to have a dust buster around again, but the upright vacuum feature is GREAT for my children to vacuum the area rugs in their bedrooms. Also, they get excited to vacuum the carpet stairs now! Totally worth my money just to have my kids able to assist more with housework.

Great for light duty
»
I love this vacuum but it is definitely made for light duty and requires emptying very often.
It is light weight and I absolutely love the cordless aspect since I have broken things around the house due to the vacuum cord getting tangled in things.
