Model number confusion
»
Since I don't own this product yet this is not a negative or positive review but instead is an answer to some reviewers here who insist that this model has a bell which rings when the toast is done while others say it does not. The reason for the confusion is confusion over model numbers. TRO962 has an electronic timer for toast timing and does not have a bell. TRO964 has a mechanical timer for toast timing and does have a bell. The two models are otherwise very similar. I found this out by going to Sears which claimed to have the TRO962 (and so the sign said on the floor display along with "electronic control" on the features list) but examining the floor stock showed the model number to be TRO964 with the now ubiquitous mechanical bell timer (which I do not want) I'm afraid the TRO962 has been discontinued and I'm in search of one.

Never Thought a Toaster Could Be This Bad
»
I saw this toaster on sale at Kohl's 2 day sale for $20 less than the usual price. It was selling for $29.99 as opposed to the usual $49.99, so I thought I was getting a good deal. I didn't read the reviews on it, because I figured "how bad could a toaster be?" For $30, I was sure it was worth it. Well, I was surprised to discover it was pretty bad. I read some of the reviews when I got home and thought maybe the people had been exaggerating, but when I opened the box, the first thing I noticed was the door wouldn't open correctly. It would actually jam as you tried to open it and then you would have to place your hand on the top of the toaster to pull on the door to unjam it. I never even got as far as to plug it in, but if there's even some truth in these other reviews on this toaster, the entire top of the toaster would be extremely hot. Meaning, that if you placed your hand on top to get some pressure going to pull open the stuck door, you'd burn your hand off. I figured it wasn't worth burning myself over, so I didn't even bother to try to open the door with the toaster on.
In addition, the platform at the bottom of the toaster was bent, making it easy for the crumbs to fall out of the toaster on to the counter. I don't know if this was a flaw in my toaster or part of the actual design, but it was ridiculous to have the bottom of the toaster bend like that.
I immediately put it back in the box and returned it today. Thing was a piece of junk.

Can't toast with it
»
This oven cannot seem to comprehend "toast". It seems that once it reaches a certain temperature, it just shuts off the heating elements. It doesn't matter whether the item is toasted or not. Sometimes, it turns back on in mid stride. Either this is a think-of-the-children type of safety feature or a defect. Regardless, it is going back to the store.

Too hot to handle
»
Whether you set the temp at 150 or 350, it seems to be just as hot - too hot. No bell or timer. Spend the extra money for a better quality item.

Burns more than it cooks
»
We've had this oven for a few months now and it has almost completely been a waste of money. Now, it burns everything you try to bake. Things that are supposed to bake at over 400 degrees, begin to burn after a few minutes with the oven set at 200 degrees. Don't waste your time on this oven.
