Why these scissors have a bent handle
»
Since I have become a scissors expert, I was asked why do some scissors have a bent handle? These are also called "offset" handles. The answer is because of the type of application they are meant to perform. The bent handle keeps the cutting hand off of the cutting surface such as a table top or bench such that the scissors can glide through the material without it bunching up and distorting the cut.
Straight handle scissors are better suited for cutting through material that you can free hold with your other hand. Fiskars 94547097 No.8 Razor Edged Scissors

There are off set, i.e., "bent", straight, right handed and left handed models as well.
These Fiskars scissors have sharp stainless steel blades. They cut through fabric and paper well.
Do not cut wire or sheet metal with scissors. You will definitely ruin them. Instead use wire cutters or aviation snips designed to do that type of work.

These are the best scissors

I have purchased many pairs of this brand, not because they have worn out or have broken but because I wanted to replace any that I need to use with these. I have several pairs at home and replaced the ones at work at my own expense. There are no better that I have found. They are sturdy, fit your hand, stay as sharp as they were when new forever, and eliminate all those annoying snags and stalls of inferior scissors. So if your scissors have any problems at all and you need to reduce just one source of frustration at work or home, just get these scissors, they don't cost that much.
