Cooking up a mess of hotcakes? This sturdy griddle makes feeding the hungry masses as easy as rolling out of bed. It's big enough for a pair of panini or four 4-inch pancakes, and the shallow profile means no more mangling when you flip. Like all of the products in Calphalon's commercial hard-anodized series, this griddle distributes heat evenly, without hot spots that can burn a hole in your breakfast. (First-timer's tip: Try cooking over a lower setting than you customarily use. Calphalon cookware conducts heat so well that it's easy to overdo the first few times around.) Unlike pans coated with a synthetic nonstick finish, the hard-anodized surface won't chip, crack, or peel if you use a metal spatula, and the ergonomically designed stainless-steel handles absorb heat slowly, staying comfortably cool for stovetop cooking. All of Calphalon's commercial hard-anodized cookware comes with a lifetime warranty, and if treated with care, it'll last as long as you do. Always wash this cookware by hand with mild cleansers, and don't place a hot pan in cold water--it could warp. --Mary Park

Pass the toasted sandwiches
»
This is great pan for toasted sandwiches, french toast, Salmon burgers or even fried eggs. The low, nearly non existent side makes it great for those recipes, you cook it up, then slide right onto the plate. Clean up is a snap.

A useful addition

I was given this griddle as a christmas gift, and it has worked out very well for me. I'm a big fan of the commerial hard annodized line, and this pan hasn't let me down. Unlike may non stick pans, the non stick coating is very durable, and won't flake off. I used it mostly for breakfast, but an eager to try cooking panini!
